Ah, yes, the brilliance of juries.

Darrin Fernandez is serving a 10-to-15 year sentence for rape - he climbed a fire escape and went through an open window in Boston and raped a girl in 2000, and was convicted in 2003.

He's had *two* hung juries on another rape case where, 8 months after, in the same neighbourhood as the first case, a man climbed a fire escape, entered through an open window, and raped the girl. DNA evidence matches Darrin Fernandez exactly - there is absolutely no question that the DNA matches his precisely - but the juries have hung because they can't prove it *wasn't* his identical twin brother.

Wal-Mart. Leading the world in useful web technology! Why, on their site, no matter WHAT you search for, they take you to "Bibles" first.

Try it out.

Yes, it's a trick. It's still a funny one. My favourite is

Also at Wal-Mart: A man walks in in a prison jumpsuit and handcuffs, asking to buy a hacksaw. What would you do?

Fernandez could certainly be identified by fingerprints- identical twins have different prints, IIRC.

If they *had* fingerprints from the rapist, that would be true.

He was convicted the first time because he has a tattoo that his brother does not. The second victim never saw a tattoo.

but the juries have hung because they can't prove it *wasn't* his identical twin brother.

Are the juries allowed to know about the previous conviction? Without that, and it really is circumstantial at best, it's really frickin' hard to consider it proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Unless the identical twin can be proven to have been elsewhere.

Um, I searched "Satan" on Wal-Mart and got 98 results that weren't the Bible.

Then I searched "toilet paper" and got results that made sense for "toilet paper."

What's the trick?

The trick is that you edit the URL directly to add the search query.

catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=416096&redirect_query=toilet+paper

Edit that bit right there.

Anything else resets the catalog.
