Also,
Parents sue school board for sabotaging their children's education. Related, 65% of Americans have already fallen victim to the sabotage, and 37% are so mindbogglingly ignorant that it's amazing they manage to breed - and yet, they do, and they vote, and they feel that the definition of science should be up to a majority opinion taken from those not in possession of any of the facts. (Speaking of which, the New Yorker explains how Intelligent Design didn't, but should have, worked.)
And, hey, let's complete the too-stupid-to-live trifecta, with
the story of a Klansman who committed murder in 1964, never faced a trial, had his case re-opened in 2000 and then closed again since he was dead - and now the brother of the victim has found him, alive and well.

Date: 2005-09-26 11:47 am (UTC)I just tend to focus on the train-wreck parts, because they're
A) more entertaining
B) need more attention to get fixed, and
C) more common.
The first and third articles there, it's worth noting, are exceptional people behaving exceptionally badly. Those guards obviously should never have been trusted to be guards, and the judge and family need to be stomped alongside the Klansman, but those are small potatoes compared to "37% of Americans believe creationism should be taught in science classes instead of evolution."
