"I remember the one night, on a house show, where I was trying to work as a heel, and while I was on the apron, a 'We Want Storm' chant erupted and I actually turned to the crowd and yelled, 'I'm trying to be a heel here, PLEASE!' To this the crowd responded with a 'Storm Sucks' chant. What a great night."

What's a heel, and who is Storm?

Lance Storm is a professional wrestler.

No, that's not his real name. His real name is Lance Evers.

A "heel" is a bad guy professional wrestler.

A "house show" is an untelevised event.

The "apron" means the ring apron - up on the edge of the ring, but outside the ropes.

Getting cheered when you're "working heel" is somewhat counterproductive, but the local fans really, really liked Lance Storm - and so they were undermining his attempts to be the cowardly, weaselly, cheating bad guy. It being untelevised, he's allowed to do things like *admit* he knows it's just an act, and the crowd obliged him.

This is why it is a funny story.
