Stupid: Doing so as an end-user, in the field.
Entirely Stupid: Doing so while holding or wearing the armor in question.
US Marine Corps Official-Issue Weapons-Grade Stupid: Doing so with an untested shooter, who you need a translator to speak to, who misses the first shot entirely - and then asking him to move closer and try again.

If stupid was money, the decisions made in that film - by everyone - could finance the Iraq war until 2015.

It's possible. At the same time, most soldiers in the US are people who had not other options, and so now they're 19, well-armed, instilled with confidence in some things that they unjustifiably carry over into other aspects of their lives - and they're not any smarter than any other 19-year-old. In a lot of cases, they're dumber, and trained not to think.

I've seen lots of people do really, really stupid things. Very few people are as well-equipped to do really stupid things as the military.
