Ohio man beaten, raped after peering into child's bedroom

An apparent peeping Tom was sexually assaulted with a tree branch after being discovered peering into the bedroom window of a five-year-old Ohio girl. The 44-year-old male victim was viciously beaten by a group of six attackers, including the child's mother, 28-year-old Stacy Umstott. Along with a 15-year-old girl who was not identified, the other assailants nabbed were stripper Athena Lemieux, the girl's 20-year-old aunt; Nicholas Phipps, 21; Brandon Breedon, 21; and Khalid Arafat, 34. According to a harrowing police report, officers found the man covered in blood and crumpled on the grass outside the apartment building where the assailants were arrested last Saturday.

On Sunday, August 15, a 16-year-old girl in the town of Neka, northern Iran, was executed. Ateqeh Sahaleh was hanged in public on Simetry Street off Rah Ahan Street at the city center.

The sentence was issued by the head of Neka’s Justice Department and subsequently upheld by the mullahs’ Supreme Court and carried out with the approval of Judiciary Chief Mahmoud Shahroudi.

In her summary trial, the teenage victim did not have any lawyer and efforts by her family to recruit a lawyer was to no avail. Ateqeh personally defended herself. She told the religious judge, Haji Rezaii, that he should punish the main perpetrators of moral corruption not the victims.

The judge personally pursued Ateqeh’s death sentence, beyond all normal procedures and finally gained the approval of the Supreme Court. After her execution Rezai said her punishment was not execution but he had her executed for her "sharp tongue".

You've gotta love Jim Hellwig.

Having been informed that unique memorabilia of his would probably sell pretty well on the internet, he's selling one of his WWF championship belts - at a starting bid of $23 500 USD - to make the point that no, it won't, because people are cheap and don't appreciate quality and integrity - and he makes a point of putting all that in the description.

Of course, he then links to other auctions where he sold an action figure for $500 and some old ring gear for $3500.

Edvard Munch's priceless paintings 'The Scream' and 'Madonna' have been stolen by armed robbers.

The Munch Museum in Oslo said the thieves threatened staff at gunpoint before escaping with the masterpieces in a waiting car.

One witness, Radio producer Francois Castang, was visiting the museum when the thieves burst in.

"What's strange is that in this museum there weren't any means of protection for the paintings, no alarm bell," he told France Inter radio.

"The paintings were simply attached by wire to the walls," he said.

Mr Castang saw the thieves simply pull the painting from the wall.
