American politicians insider trading? NO!

Senator Bill Frist offered an explanation on Wednesday for the timing of his sale in June of his stake in HCA, the giant hospital company that his family founded, as its shares reached a peak and began a steep slide.

The senator's spokesman, Bob Stevenson, said Wednesday that Mr. Frist "made a conscious decision to divest himself of all HCA assets" so he could pursue an ambitious agenda of health care legislation free of any appearance of self-interest.

Of course, the fact that Frist and *all* the poeple with financial information were selling madly means NOTHING:

The sales, which included moves by Hospital Corporation of America's chief executive, treasurer, senior vice president for government programs and several directors, were among the largest insider selloffs analysts had seen, LoPresti said. Many officers made their largest trades ever in April, only to top them again in May and June, LoPresti said.

Bill "Cat Killer" Frist is being investigated the SEC for this. A Grand Jury is issuing subpoenas to the company to get their records.

An Oxford research team has managed to introduce a synthetic gene into live hamsters in such a way that the gene is then expressed in mature sperm. The gene in question, which was nicked from a jellyfish, makes the sperm a lovely fluorescent green.

Traditionally, playing around with a sperm cell's genetic makeup has been tricky. Unlike many other cells, which can be grown and genetically modified in a petri dish, sperm cells are very small, oddly shaped and very short lived when taken out of the body, making it impossible to grow sperm cell cultures.

A federal jury awarded an Egyptian-born radiologist nearly $2.5 million for invasion of privacy after a property manager searched his apartment and called police on Sept. 11, 2001.

Sherri Lynn Wilson had entered Basem M.F. Hussein's apartment in Coraopolis the day of the attacks to replace furnace filters, according to testimony. She told the FBI she saw Arabic literature, an airplane flight manual, a compact disc jacket that showed an exploding airplane, and chemical residue she believed to be from bomb-making activities.

What she actually saw was a popular flight simulator computer game and its CD jacket, which did not depict an exploding airplane, Hussein's attorney said. The purported Arabic literature was an English version of the Koran; the chemical residue was household dust. Hussein was awarded $850,000 in compensatory damages and $1.6 million in punitive damages.

Hussein, 40, a permanent U.S. resident who has lived in the United States and Canada since age 6, was working in New Mexico when his apartment was searched. He was handcuffed, detained, fingerprinted, interviewed and cleared by FBI officials there.

When he returned to his Meadows apartment, he found he had been evicted.
