So much of these photographs that nasa puts out that are glorious like this one (and my god, it is truly glorious)are done in "exaggerated color" or with a telescope that translates extrasensory light into our wavelengths, etc etc, that I am left wondering lately whether the galaxy as viewed from our eyes might just be extremely boring. ("Color in the view was created by digitally compositing ultraviolet, infrared and clear filter images and was then adjusted to resemble natural color.")

Sometimes the real-light is just as interesting as the UV. Other times, the whole point is the UV.
