Brendan Reich, newly minted CEO of Mozilla, unrepentant supporter of homophobic causes, has a message for all of You People.Notice how he says he's devoted to making MOZILLA a place that supports everyone, while still feeling that his efforts to make CALIFORNIA a place that does not support everyone do not merit mention?
Notice how he still refuses to even make the token effort required to say that his previous gay-bashing actions[1] were maybe, possibly, slightly not cool? Or that he MIGHT have possibly changed in the last 6 years?
Notice how he still thinks that everything would be better if only all of You People would just shut up and stop making such a big deal out of his materially contributing to causes devoted to your non-person-ness?
Dear Brendan: Start by apologising for treating gay people as subhuman. Promise to do better in the future, now that you know something that you obviously didn't know in 2008, and explain WHAT it is you had wrong. Until then? Fuck you. Stop trying to pretend you're not a bigoted asshole. Until you apologise for being a bigoted asshole in the past, you can't stop being a bigoted asshole NOW.
[1]: Actions. Not opinion, not feeling, not speech. Dude gave a significant percentage of a US worker's annual wage to a cause whose SOLE goal and SOLE purpose was to treat a minority as subhuman, because he hates them. And he attached Mozilla's name to it in the process. People who want to complain about "some executive's opinion": You are full of shit. This is not "just his opinion" even if his bigotry being "just an opinion" would have made it okay. Which it doesn't.
