Canada's Interim Placeholder Government shoot selves in foot at Vimy Ridge.

Short version: Rather than hire translators, or get anyone who speaks French to proofread, Veteran's Affairs just took volunteers to translate Vimy Ridge memorial plaques into French and didn't check their work at all. The first French speakers to see the plaques were people viewing the memorial, who noted the constant and obvious spelling and grammatical errors.

Botching the plaques, baring the media from filming the coffins of the soldiers killed in Afghanistan... does this government have something against soldiers or just war dead?

Mind you, having had the misfortune of using the Government's translation bureau, the result might have been the same with "real" translators.

The interim placeholder government's contempt for the job of translation, even just into both official languages and nothing else, shows through in a lot of places.

It's a symptom of being an anglocentric west-only party.
