Is it too much to ask that JUST ONE of my relatives get my fiancee's name right when responding to the wedding invite?

It's not like it's a complicated name, or that it's not written on the invitation TWICE.

Spelling it with an "i" or a "ph"?

My wife is Ginnie--not a nickname, it's what's on her birth certificate. We've been together 10 years this October, married for three, and we still get correspondence addressed most often to "Ginny" and ocassionally even "Jenny."

Good Luck.

First names, thankfully, weren't an issue for us. Doesn't get any easier than John & Lisa. Don't think there were problems with the last names either.

My own relatives can't get my name right. Don't hold your breath.

It changes from relative to relative and instance to instance.

It never ends. The woman who did the caligraphy for our license and the woman who performed our ceremony both misspelled my wife's name. Those hippies just have to spell Janice with an "s."

Joplin is dead. Jerry is dead. Get over it.

Could be worse - the official at my sister's wedding read the wrong vows.

Heh. My entire family have that problem with our surname. I mean, even when I and others have been in hospital, we've had the wrong name written above our beds. And this is all when the people in question should have access to official versions with the right name...

After all the variants I've seen on my name, most of them from people who have only seen it written down so wrong guessing from pronounciation isn't the issue, I can quite believe that.

Lot of "i"s, lot of missing "t"s, and at least one "Kathleen".

To be fair, your uncle Malcolm did get it right.

...although now that I think of it, he didn't mention last names when responding...

(...but I think he got it right on the gift's address. So mad points for him.)
