In the suffocation, soldiers covered the man's head with a sleeping bag, then wrapped his neck with an electrical cord for a "stress position" they insisted was an approved technique.

Oh man. I can't WAIT to hear the full justification for this.

Who "approved" this "technique"? Stalin?

Those who fight monsters should take care that they never become one. For when you stand and look long into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you.

That's not far off the mark.

These techniques were drawn from this document, the CIA field manual on the subject:

http://www.gwu.edu/%7Ensarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB122/index.htm#kubark

They, in turn, were drawn from analyses of KGB documents and techniques. It's barely worth discussing, I'm sure, that the main goal here isn't so much the extraction of reliable, field-deployable information as it is the extraction of a confession.

Plus ça change...

Can't wait for this to hit the Left-biased Mainstream Media (which is filled with Agents Provocateurs), for it to ... sink like a stone, unnoticed and forgotten. Again.
