I was offline for a move yesterday, and I came back to find more than five hundred entries waiting for me. There's been a purge of people, and more coming. And unlike everyone else who does this, I'm going to say right now that yes, you SHOULD be offended, I'm not reading your posts any more because you personally are a very bad person. So there. That's why I dropped Neil Gaiman - he eats puppies. It's true.

And now, the most tasteless costume ever. I love it:

I've got over 500 people on my list and I still only have a few pages of posts per day, many of them less than an inch long. I guess all my friends are lazy shits, present company excepted.

This costume hurts scars in all the bad places. I hope none of your f-list have freakouts because of it. I'd suggest a cut, but the damage is probably already done.

Zombies are cool. This is really horrifying.

The one that's in my user info?

There reaches a point where even multiple views won't help: There simply are people I always skip, and so dropping them into a different view won't fix anything. Then I'll just ignore them there, too.

I don't purge based on volume. Total volume of all posts indicates that I *should* get rid of some people, but the deciding factor is "whether or not I find myself consistently skipping your posts".

And I don't, for you.

I was never on your list to begin with so me being offended would be just slightly hypocritical of me, wouldn't it?

That being said, my journal is hardly entertaining enough to be read anyway. I'm a very boring person, honest.

And is the fact that I laugh at that costume make me a bad person?

Dammit, I look at it and I think *you don't use an unstraightened coat hanger*. Although a straightened one would take up no visual space at all.

A broom handle with a broken bottle-neck attached works too, but there are safety issues with carrying around broken glass...

...also, horrible. Which is not inherently a bad thing to aim for in a costume.

(I keep thinking "God, she's lovely" and cross-referencing it somehow with [livejournal.com profile] reyl's mention of zombies. Very odd in my brain.)

That pic reminds me of college. I was cleaning up in the university run cafeteria where I worked. I found an empty birth control pill dispenser and a coathanger. I stuck the dispenser through the unwound coathanger. Then I showed it to my boss, saying "I call it 'Freedom of Choice.'"

Man, did she come unglued. Ranted about poor taste and horrible and whatever else. I shrugged, smiled and walked away.

She managed to get me fired a few months later.

That costume is the BEST! Out of all the Halloween costumes I've worn or designed and worn throughout my life, I've never cross-dressed, even when the football jocks in high school did it.

This costume, on the other hand, is making me think that I have found a good option should I decide to do so for some Halloween party. WHOO-HOO! ;-)

I'm having trouble visualizing that, possibly since I've never seen birth control pills distributed in anything except flat foil sheets with 21 or 28 little plastic bubbles on them, one per pill. What does such a dispenser look like?

Some of them come in a ring-shaped dial plastic cases. You have an outer ring with the pills and a lid with one opening that you spin to release a pill and an inner ring with days of the week that you can spin so you can know if, on a given day, you've taken your pill.

I'm thinking it might have been one of those.

The 35 people and feeds I dropped were all people I'd found myself consistently skipping posts on. Particularly, they were people who, in that 500 posts, I found myself skipping *and* who I recalled as having been eminently skippable in the past.

You're not that.

Huh. Until you posted this, I never realized that I was *on* your F-list. I guess you likeses my links, yay!

But for the record, next time you're offline for a day or so: You do know how to filter for *only* RSS Feeds, or only communities, or only individual journals when you read, yes? I find that I can catch up on what I care about and skim more easily using this method.

It's easier to break a backlog up into chunks that way.

You mean, the method that is clearly explained in my profile for the benefit of people who want to Friend me but don't want me to flood them?

Splitting the 500+ entries over 10 hours into chunks makes it easier to catch up on any given piece, and that's okay, but it's still 500 entries in 10 hours. That's still too many for me to want to catch up on, and so I dropped about 50 accounts and feeds that update regularly and that I find myself skipping fairly often.

Nope.

The method I linked to explains how to view *only* the individual journals, or *only* the communities, or *only* the RSS feeds, etc.

You can, I suppose, create a custom group with only the individual journals you've friended in it, but that seems a roundabout way to do it, to me. The easier way is to simply add ?show=p to the end of your URL (http://theweaselking.livejournal.com?show=p) if you wish to see only the personal journals.

OK. Well, that I can't argue with. I do it differently--sometimes if I'm gone for a day or a week I come back and catch up only on personal journals, and let the communities fend for themselves. I thought that such an approach might work for you too, but if it doesn't, more power to you.

I'm surprised and honoured that my stuff is not skippable. For a given value of honoured, anyway.
