Two things that new cat owners often need to be told about cats.
1) Cats have a sense of fun. 2) Cats do NOT have a sense of funny.
This is a case where the owner is going to learn about #2 very quickly.
I have been tempted to push my cat off the side of the tub INTO the tub on a number of occasions. This isn't helped by the way all her fluff makes her float when she falls in by accident...
That's why they're so funny, though. For example, a cat falling down the stairs isn't inherently funny. What the cat does afterward—get up, give you this "OMG I TOTALLY MEANT TO DO THAT" look, and proceed to wash itself with great dignity—is hilarious.
