I think this picture is a set-up shot. I think the bat is stretched out on a glass plate and shot from below. Note the back-lit wings and the fill lighting on the body fur, suggesting a slow shutter-speed. There is no motion blur. I think the bat is either dead or anesthetized.

Pretty sure that's Plecotus Townshendii (sp?), or Townshend's Big Eared Bat. My favorite cave bat, they're personable little critters. Some subspecies are endangered, unfortunately. I think he's alive, but might be in an outdoor flight cage. The wings of dead ones don't look like that.

That's good. I have seen some amazing shots of bats like this, so rare to get just right. I'd hate to think that some are set-ups.
