I really don't understand what the crap is going on here. I reread the article over and over again, and I still don't understand. Why are all these opaque materials helping someone see? And why the frag do they need a canine?

I just want to know who first thought "hey... if we stick a tooth and its root in someone's empty eye socket and put this other stuff on the tooth, they'll get a new eye!" would actually work.
