Squirrels are so funny in that they'll bond with humans for no particular reason. I had a squirrel friend who used to come take a break from her kits by lying down across my feet and sunning herself while I was sitting outside having lunch. Then she started bringing family to visit as well. One day she climbed up the back of my chair and licked my ear and tried to groom my hair. And it's not like I gave her anything more than an occasional strawberry or pecan; she wasn't in it for the food. I think she just liked the company.
