Anyone interested in free ebooks and wallpaper art?

Of the ones available there, I'd highly recommend "Old Man's War" and "Spin". I haven't read any of the others, yet.

Farthing is good as well, though it has some flaws. If you're into heroic fantasy, Lord of the Isles is good too (and the first one in a just-finished long series), but it has been out as a free e-book for some time already too, via Baen's e-book CDs.

ILOVED The Outstretched Shadow. Read the trilogy and eagerly bought the first book of the next set, which is over a thousand years later. Its a lot of fun comparing the legend to what you know happened.

Damn, beautiful stuff. I had been looking for Old Man's War anyways. Thanks a ton.

That's quite the lineup. I highly recommend both Sun of Suns and Starfish.

Both authors are from Toronto, incidentally.

As further recommendation for the latter, I submit what has to be my favourite book jacket quote by [livejournal.com profile] james_nicoll. "Whenever I find my will to live becoming too strong, I read Peter Watts."

Baen has a free online library, as well.
