It runs on a four-year cycle, to let them calculate when to hold the Olympic Games.

There's a replica of the Antikythera mechanism in the Gods & Monsters exhibit currently at the Children's Museum of Manhattan. We're going tomorrow; I will investigate to see if they have updated their labels already. :-).
