Firefox on Windows forced me to kill the process. :P
Not pleased.
Especially since restoring the session restored the page, so I lost a bunch of tabs I had open. Luckily I don't remember what they were, so I don't feel any particular feeling of loss. :P
You know, even if you have scripts running and it starts, you can kill it *without* losing your tabs.
Step 1: CTRL-W to kill the "tab" that's causing the browser to jump around. Step 2: Either CTRL-W again or just click the regular tab button to close it.
It starts popping up the lyrics.
Step 3: Click through the song. When it reaches the end, it will give you an "OK or cancel" box. If you hit OK, it lets you close the tab. If you hit cancel, it restarts the process.
You *can* hold down the Enter key to skip through the lyrics faster. However, some of the more annoying versions of the site set "cancel" as the default action, meaning it cycles. The original has Enter as the default.
Aye. I'm usually fairly adept at shutting down javascript annoyance pages, but this wasn't playing ball. Near as I could tell it was going through all of the lyrics with a standard alert() box, then it'd get to the end, and as soon as I'd try to close the page, it would intercept it and restart the lyric-spam loop. It's entirely possible I flew past that last box and didn't realize it was a confirm() box. Hmm. (Dare I try again? ;D)
Interestingly, Safari played the video, made me click through all the boxes, and then when I hit the last one closed the tab for me. Is there a less-sane failure mode for crappier browsers?
(I thought it was very considerate of them to close the tab for me at the end.)
Google Chrome has an explicit "do you want to prevent further dialog boxes from spawning" option on the dialog box, so it was pretty trivial to get out of it. That said, I laughed.
You know, I opened it in chrome and was pleasantly surprised at it giving me a little check box that would prevent that site from spawning any more windows. Kinda nifty.
I find it insteresitng that Opera, which when I last came across that website fell victim to it (though wouldn't've done for a simple unchecking of 'enable javascript'), this time showed me none of the boxes.
No "something tried to pop up", video playing, but without the boxes appearing, and with Javascript enabled.
Well, I just had to uninstall it because it was keeping me from downloading a Fallout 3 mod, even when set to allow everything from the website I was downloading from. So ... yeah.
