I think I actually read somewhere earlier this week where a pundit said they shouldn't be arrested because they were decorated war veterans who fought for their country.
As if being a soldier exonerates you from any and all wrongdoing...for life.
I'm against DoJ prosecuting this for jurisdictional reasons. Our laws don't apply on foreign soil no matter how many pennies we throw in the wishing well. Hand 'em over to the Iraqi courts.
I'm also anti GITMO for the same reason (sorry, but people in Afghanistan, Taliban or not, were defending their nation from an invading army, that it was OURS was immaterial.)
Where they assert personal jurisdiction, they absolutely do. A US citizen that goes to Thailand and rents a twelve-year-old prostitute can be prosecuted in a US court for that. Also, the FCPA exists.
I love that they intentionally turned themselves in to Utah authorities and are fighting extradition. I guess they figure, the redder the state, the better their chances.
