That's pure awesome. Though the nit picker in me says they should have made the last two panels black and white to be true to the movie.

I take it the guy with the sunglasses is some kind of popular culture reference? Unfortunately Google pictures still does not allow me to paste a picture and get the relevant name. (Why can't I do that in 2009 anyway? We're in the future for crying out loud! By now we should be able to give a picture of someone's *arse* and still get their name and CV if it's on the Net.)

The filename might give it away.

But that's Rowdy Roddy Piper, and the reference is They Live.

Thank you. Reading up now. Looks like a great metaphor. Strangely never heard of it before.

There have been attempts, but the Secret Service are extremely good at what they do, and nobody's made it into his presence without getting caught first during the "planning" or "smuggling in a weapon" stages.

He's the origin of the phrase, "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. and I'm all out of bubblegum."

*Lots* of people have tried to assassinate him.

Of course, that's been true of every president for a while now. However, due to longer lifespans of Presidents, our last President (GW Bush) will be the first to only get Secret Service protection for 10 years after he leaves office, not his lifetime.

About him, I don't worry. About the current President, I worry. I do hope they alter the law again.

They are aided by most of the attempts being 'planned' by neo-nazis and white supremacists who end up posting their covert RaHoWa plans on their MySpace.

It couldn't have anything to do with Obama being as shitty a president as Bush, nope.

#1: "hasn't reversed everything immediately" is not the same as "made every wrong decision possible, deliberately, for personal amusement and the profit of his friends". You really have to give it a year or two before you can even begin to claim that Obama is as bad as the worst President in history - Bush set that bar *so low* that nobody can cross it in mere months.

#2: even if that were true, the racist fuckwits have been engaging in racist fuckwittery since before the election. The OMG NIGGER squad didn't wait for and had no concerns about Obama's performance, and nothing he could have done would have changed their position.

More like hasn't undone anything. His job, arguably, should be easier, given that all he has to do is fix what's been fucked up. He had eight years to see what it was and eight months since his election to take a genuine position and commence action. Instead he continues to weild the unconstitutional powers Bush gave himself, allows torture and kidnapping, continues illegal war, advocates perpetual detention without charge, refuses to prosecute the criminals responsible, supports the Defense of Marriage Act, perpetuates the military's anti-gay policy, and on and on. He's done nothing and gotten a free pass.

As for racism against him, it's a given that there would be some of that, but then Bush was frequently compared to Hitler, denigrated for his religious views, and vilified for being rich and white. There's always an element that will take a dislike to a politician for something other than his/her actions and policies. To characterize all or even most critics of Obama as racist is unfair.

He has, in fact, undone quite a few things. US troops have left major cities in Iraq. He attempted to close down our lovely illegal prison- when the entire country stonewalled him and pulled a "NOT IN MY STATE" round of bullshit. Most importantly, the world doesn't view him as an arrogant, stupid prick. I can finally take the Canadian stickers off my luggage.

As far as saying that "all or even most critics of Obama" are racist... I don't think that anyone said that. I don't think the picture even suggests it. The fact is, most of the notable assassination plots that have come out publicly against Obama have been from white supremacist groups. Whereas if you asked the average person walking down the street if they ever thought about killing Bush, I'm sure you'd get a good 1/4 saying yes. There's a marked difference in hating a president because of his policies and the obvious corruption in his administration versus hating a president because he's half-black.
