Dude, I've lived and worked in downtown Baltimore, and this is exactly what happens. There are two types of street birds there, the pigeons and the sparrows, and there is always this weird battle between the tiny birds and the big birds whenever the scraps of food get dropped.
No word of a lie, I have seen this fight (not this specific one, but song bird vs pigeon) at the Hamilton bus terminal when waiting for a GO bus. Needless to say, the pigeon won. However a bit did tear off in the process that the sparrow took.
.. and really, I had known the pig would win. There's a reason they're one of my favourite birds: they are resilient mofos with attitude. They're tough and not to be messed with. That's why I loved the caricature in Animaniacs - it was perfect. I thought they got it spot on. :)
