(seriously, failblog? Making me trim the image *this much* to avoid your shitty humour-destroying "FAIL" across it? You suck, failblog.)

Yeah, that's totally hilarious because the mentally ill don't deserve love.

I find the juxtaposition of the importance this person puts on their Christianity, combined with their *admission* that they consider the voices they hear on other topics to be a sign of mental illness, interesting.

I also think Failblog is crap because "FAIL" ruins the picture, absolutely, every time.

"Christian seeking Christian" is ridiculously common in personals, as are crappy English skills. The only unusual element is the (probable) schizophrenia, and laughing at that really strikes me as kicking someone when they're already down with one of the least understood and least tractable mental illnesses out there.

thank you, I saw that this morning and the only fail I can see is from the insensitive people laughing at it.

Most people who hear voices in their head either admit mental illness OR proclaim Christianity, not both. That's my entire point.

There's no "deserving love" involved. There is "hears voices and thinks it's God" and "hears voices and thinks it's mental illness", at the same time, from the same person.

I got that. Despite all evidence to the contrary, I don't think your initial joke needed clarification or defense. I liked it, at least.

I'm more amused at the ridiculous conceit of schizophrenia being "self controlled". But hey, that's what God's telling her, so it must be true.

Most people who hear voices in their head either admit mental illness OR proclaim Christianity, not both.

"Most people", or "most people we see"?

By the nature of things, people who mistake their mental illness for a religious experience are likely to be a lot more visible than religious people who recognise that they're mentally ill.

Someone who believes that God really is speaking to them has a very strong motivation to share and/or act on the voices they hear, whether that means shooting people or just haranguing them on street corners.

Somebody who believes in God, and also hears voices which they know to be due to mental illness, has a lot less reason to be visible about it. Telling the world you hear voices is generally a bad move - and even when it's appropriate to do that, there may not be much reason for them to mention Christianity alongside it, because they don't conflate the two. If I were Christian and knew myself to be mentally ill, about the only time I'd be likely to mention both in the same paragraph was if I was looking for a partner or maybe a support group (http://www.christianforums.com/f543/).

#1: Linked to the original.
#2: Watermarks, I don't mind. Additions that ruin the picture, I mind. So either I don't link 'em, or I cut out the stupid.

Except that the ad doesn't mention schizophrenia, and a lot of people who hear illusory voices *don't* have schizophrenia.

Tired small note:

You know, hon, not everyone who self-identifies as a Christian hears voices. I would even venture to say that most of them don't.

Rephrasing: people who hear voices usually identify as Christian *or* admit insanity, not both.

Since I defined "content site" as site with content on it...

Don't worry too much, I was just having a light dig at him, I don't really have strong opinions on this or any other matter.
