The statement cited a "great increase of affection and esteem for the person of the Holy Father" in recent years...
This, in my opinion, is an even greater act of wishful thinking than attempting to copyright the Pope.

Not clear from the article whether the church is
actually
using copyright, or whether that word came from a journalist who didn't understand IP law any better than the rest of the world.
