GTA 4 is $7.50, today only, on STEAM. If you don't have a copy, it is WELL worth the $8, and as Christmas gifts for PC gamers you know it's hard to find a better value.

You couldn't pay me to play an FPS that glorifies criminal behavior.

I'd've got it for a friend today if I didn't think they probably already had it. Did do three Christmas presents through Steam, it's rather handy for that. Particularly for the ability to look at a game, download the demo, then decide whether or not to buy it.

Out of curiousity, is it just the criminality that offends? Many FPSs arguably glorify violence, and many other games glorify other less than lovely aspects of the world.

I'm not a fan of FPSes, but the whole "damn it feels good to be a gangster" culture needs to go. Treating crime as a rewardable goal is too "escapist" for my taste.

I've bought so many more games since I got Steam. It was a smart move on Valve's part.

As long as we're talking of good things that are dirt cheap on STEAM, Braid is there for three bucks today.

Just saying.

Yeah, I picked that up yesterday. Haven't played it yet - got distracted by a $2 tower defense game and Company Of Heroes, which I ALSO got.

Defense Grid: The Awakening.

It's very pretty, and seems fairly standard, but I've only played like 2 levels so far.

I strongly feel "not", but that's because I never ran into the game until last year, and it's horribly dated at this point. And, really, it *claims* to be a game with a dozen solutions to each problem, but, fundamentally, "walk right up in the open and shoot" is always the fastest and least stupid solution, since it's a VERY EASY shooter and the slightest failure in a "stealth" gameplay results in having to shoot everything.

So yeah. I'm not a fan of Deus Ex. And I found the sequel just unplayable. But I know a lot of people who really, really liked it.

So essentially what you're saying is that people need to be less stupid.

Because anyone that plays GTA and takes it as a planning guide for their lifestyle / career is about a full suit short of a full deck.

GTA is not a career planner any more than Left 4 Dead or Call of Duty is.

The real issues are parenting, role modeling and a few dozen other factors.

No, what i'm saying is that i have no desire to play a game where immoral and antisocial behavior is the force behind the fun.
