US Military carelessness damages Babylon.

Including, incidentally, *deliberate* damage to archaeological sites three millenia old by people apparently trying to take souvenirs from the Ishtar Gate.

But, hey, history is ungoodthink, especially history of ragheads, right?

I'm sure Ereshkigal's not too happy about desecration of something devoted to her sister. And she has hooks and the underworld. Wouldn't that be a surprise, eh?

Luckily in many other cases, divine anger doesn't do anything in real terms.

At least not in any way that we can prove is solely the responsibility of divine anger; being able to subtly affect the natural forces of the world in ways humans are currently unable to detect through our technologically enhanced senses does wonders.

...and now the only thing I can think of is "pounds of human bone meal in the ground", from Slaughterhouse Five.

This is probably not a bad time to reread some Vonnegut.
