I tend to resize if it's over 1000 wide, but 600 is just *teeny* - if I'm going to shrink that far, I'll edit the image and make a smaller copy rather than relying on the browser's dynamic resizing functions, so it won't be nearly as ugly.
Also, forcing open in a new window/tab results in the behaviour of the link changing from default, which drives *me* personally batty - single click is supposed to be "open in current tab", with middle-click for "open in new tab" and right-click for "menu giving all the other options". Screwing with that behaviour is just.... gah! There's a single consistent interface for simple usability reasons! I'm not Apple, so I *like* standard and consistent behaviours, y'know?
