I love living in the future.
Mar. 16th, 2011 02:23 pmTo increase the chances of saving victims of cardiac arrest, this winter the San Ramon Valley, Calif., Fire Protection District launched a feature on its free iPhone app called Fire Department that notifies citizens in the area when someone is suffering from an emergency requiring CPR.
Basically, trained people sign up, and 911 *pings* them if their GPS reports them as being adjacent to an emergency, to get trained people on-site faster.

Date: 2011-03-16 09:15 pm (UTC)1 I'm positive I'm still good to go, having done so much First Aid and lifeguarding in my life (the lifeguarding especially, where it's drilled into you until you can do it without thinking, and I know from experience that even if I can't bring it to mind right now, when the situation happens, I will and do remember what I need to know because of that), but it's always good to brush up. And also it's fun. I love First Aid classes.
