I'm looking at doing some more selective firefox syncing.

I have three devices running Firefox 4. They are my laptop, my desktop, and my phone.

I'm currently syncing a limited subset of the possible data between devices, because I'm keeping my home computer (the desktop) and my work computer (the laptop) separate. I don't really WANT to sync bookmarks and passwords between the two.

What I want, though, is to sync *everything*, bookmarks and all, between my laptop and my phone, without dropping all my work bookmarks at home or my home bookmarks to work. I want to sync tabs and settings between all three devices.

Help me out, lazywebs. How do I do this? What's the right combination of checkboxes to let me do a 100% sync between two devices and only a partial sync with a third? Is there an add-on for that?

I think this can be done with a combination of xmarks and lastpass. Although I don't think xmarks offers any granularity for syncing bookmarks to a phone.

I think there's a magic combo in Xmarks to do this if ou use the profiles settings - set up a work profile, tell it what to sync *JUST* to work, and let it rip.

Not sure about the phone sync, though.

And for those more questionable bookmarks? I use a different browser all together, that doesn't sync, so it NEVER gets into the work place.

It's not a matter of "questionable" bookmarks. It's just a separate set, in a separate layout, that I don't want to mix largely for layout and convenience reasons. My laptop has all my client bookmarks and tools and tech notes and things. My desktop has, in that same super-convenient one-click location, things like my RSS reader and my livejournal create-a-poll button and things. I've got an archive of neat links and weird shit and gaming tabs and stuff on my home PC that I simply *don't want* on my work computer - I've got no need for 'em there.

I mean, sure, I COULD set up a separate browser, or simply not sync the home PC in with the otehr two - but I want SOME things to sync, like active tabs and UI settings.

Echo-ing the call for Xmarks - it's what I use. It allows you to use profiles - so I have some bookmarkes for home profile only, and some for work. I think it also allows you to sync tabs as well.

The settings you choose as to what you want synced also gets synced; the tech as-is won't do what you want, sorry.
