I don't understand why there's confusion as to what to do with the friends on Facebook who helped him out during the commission of his crime. They're clear accomplices. The medium shouldn't matter...

Possibly the pictures predate the hostage-taking? (I'd tend to agree, myself, but am processing details quite slowly this morning.)
