If I hadn't already turned off all the intertubes this week, today I definitely would.

I was disappointed that nothing in this vein showed up on any of my feeds this morning. I shouldn't have been the first.

...I find it rich in irony that I first read the news off Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 from my bed...

(If the generic you has lived under the rock, this would be the tablet model Apple had tried to stop, and apparently resorted to forging evidence to the court regarding its dimensions and design. At first the sales were halted, then they were not. And now I have one.)

And I read it from my Viliv X70 tablet, built along the Origami/UMPC designs that predated the iPad's release by several years. (Indeed, I much prefer that format, as a 7" screen is much easier to carry and I like being able to have the entire Office suite ready-to-hand.)

-- Steve still has his old Samsung Q1 which he bought in the spring of 2006 and loved (almost literally) to bits. And which was often mistaken for an iPad after the other Steve dialed up the reality distortion field...

No, they're not. They're threatening to cease prosecuting misdemeanors, which includes some domestic violence, as a publicity stunt to get the budget cut rescinded. Contra Costa County did the same thing a couple years ago, and it worked.

I thought they'd already ceased prosecuting the misdeameanors? Wait, no, that was at county level? But at _some_ level they've done it, and now they are upping the ante. I wonder what happens if their bluff is called and that budget cut isn't rescinded.
