In brief, yes. The lighting has to be right, and you need to be at a certain distance so you don't get too much parallax information, but when it works it's spookily effective.

The best one (and the one that gives the name to this class of illusion) is the Hollow Face illusion (http://neuroskeptic.blogspot.com/2009/04/hollow-mask-illusion-beyond-charlie.html), where your brain's facial identification software overrides your depth perception to such an extent that it's almost impossible to not see it.

But if you don't have a Charlie Chaplin mask handy, you can still print out a nice simple one to try out (http://www.grand-illusions.com/opticalillusions/dragon_illusion/).


Interesting side note - schizophrenics are unable to see this particular form of illusion.
