That's really cool! Well, as long as I can print myself some bubble wrap. I love playing with it, and I'm worried about losing its number one source.

That's very cool of them, and smart - although if they were really quick, they'd've put up their own Shapeways shop so they could earn a bit from everyone who doesn't own their own 3D printer.

Speaking of which - remember when the first SOHO laser printers came out, at around $3K or so?

I saw this (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/formlabs/form-1-an-affordable-professional-3d-printer) the other day.
Looking at some of those test builds, if Games Workshop isn't working on a way to sell licensed .STL files, half their business model is going to tank in the next 5-10 years.

This (http://www.amazon.co.uk/500mm-100M-Bubble-Wrap-Delivery/dp/B0025TS416/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1349089815&sr=8-2) might be cheaper, although I'm not sure what they wrap it in for the free shipping.

I love this future, yes.

I will not like the soon-to-be-coming future, when manufacturers of assorted plastic things form their own equivalent of the RIAA to prevent copying of plastic things, and start pressing seven-figure on people who printed home-made action figures for their kids.

It's not currently high enough detail for 32mm - 35mm figures, and they're still quite a bit more expensive individually than commercial minis... but it's improving rapidly. I await the future with great interest.
