The odd thing is that no one in the photo appears to be running away from the Giant Wall 'O Sand. That's what I'd be doing in their position.

It's a sandstorm. It's kind of hard to outrun, and there's really no perspective on how far away it is and how fast it's moving.

Having grown up in sandstorms, I can say that when the sky turns a weird shade of orange, you get inside but quick.
