Catholic hospitals refuse to treat rape victims for "ethical reasons"

Despite two Catholic hospitals independently confirming that they have orders from the local Cardinal to not treat rape victims, the Cardinal's office claims that no such order exists and this is just a misunderstanding.

We--that is, the Western world--really don't. (No, I mean, really don't.)

If you want to generalize about what the Western world thinks of treating women badly, it's not "We collectively think only Islamic countries do it." It's "We collectively only object when Islamic countries do it. When it happens here, some of us object and a lot of others will busily get bogged down in excuses about morality, or valuing the embryo over the human, or how when children wear makeup they're asking to be raped."

I do agree with you here, my first two posts were done in haste, without taking adequate time.
However attitudes like those seemingly reported in the News article cited here as well as those of the various US politicians about 'legitimate rape' and our purported ability to simply not get pregnant from rape unless we 'wanted it' would seem to indicate that, for some at least and regarding rape, they are not so far from the Islamic Extremists view of Sharia as one would like.

Now I have never been Catholic but I was once a religious person. When I was religious I thought it was important to respect all other people's beliefs and not to belittle them. I never knew much about Catholicism, I just sort of lumped it in to all the other Christian-y religions. Lately though, I have learned more, and the more I learn about this institution and its beliefs the more I am disgusted by their behavior and beliefs and the way they express those beliefs. I can't even begin to comprehend them, let alone support or respect those beliefs. I have always tried to live and let live in the realm of religion, but the Catholic church is apparently trying very hard to make me despise them. I will not sit idly by while they commit these horrible acts. I will fight them.

Catholics are neither unique nor remarkable competitors in the Horrible People Olympics. They don't even medal exceptionally often in the less-prestigious Horrible Religious People Games.

Not that they aren't just excited to compete and out there giving it their all 110% every game, mind.
