I'm pretty sure the trick was persuading their corporate masters - the people in TOR had almost certainly known that DRM didn't work for quite some time.

Alas, that blog entry makes it plausible for pro-DRM nutcases to argue that the issue was that (a) SF fans are weird, and (b) Tor got a sales boost from the positive publicity that can't be reproduced, so everybody else should still have DRM forced down their throats, because shut up.

Still, baby steps, every little bit helps, etc.
