US Supreme Court (5-4 Faith-based to fact-based justices, like usual) guts Voting Rights Act, legalises Jim Crow restrictions intended to prevent minorities from voting.

As fengi put it: "The case was brought by states run by fucking racists who are openly trying to restrict the vote now, the fact they brought a case was evidence to uphold the law."

My favourite (for its sheer chutzpah, not because I agree with it) part of this was: a bunch of judges who regularly say that the only thing that matters is what a bunch of 18th century people wrote in the 18th century, said they reached their decision because things have changed since the 1960s.
