Neither. Takes claws to dig into hardpacked earth like that, and that isn't "bonelessly limp", thats "I'm a cat and I bend in the middle".
The keeper isn't dead because that's merely "unco-operative". My housecat does the same sort of thing when I try to stop her from running under the bed at bed-time, and she really isn't angry (or afraid) - just being stubborn. No hissing, spitting, growing, snarling, biting, etc, just being cheeky. Biting and clawing is a whole 'nother level of furious and for a cub like that an authority figure hauling it around may not set it off.
