"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Who?

Me, I was expecting Jane!Thor at the end of Thor 2. Now I'm kinda expecting Cap!Thor at the end of Age Of Ultron. But I'm interested in seeing what other people think, including non-Marvel-movie choices.

Stan Fucking Lee

Rocket, sadly, tends not to have the personality traits that Odin associates with "Worthy".

And Space Horse Thor is not appearing in the Guardians movie.

I love the fact that this is on the Mjölnir in the Marvel version, just because it vaguely resembles that really old-school DC thing where everything from robots to magical artifacts was weirdly labeled with its exact intended purpose. Thor doesn't need that helpful little piece of text, and it boggles the mind that someone would feel the need to inscribe it on the bloody hammer to begin with.

.... uh? No, it's really not. It's the curse Odin puts on the hammer when he strips it from Thor, first movie.

It's never *written* on the hammer. If it was, everyone trying to pick up the hammer would mention it.

There's nothing even close to "this robot is designed to break your camera". Marvel is way less dumb than DC, that way.

As I recall, famously, Superman as well as a random paramedic.

Not J. Michael Straczynski though.

Presuming we're sticking exclusively to fictional persons...

* If Mjolnir crashed down near Raleigh, NC, it could find its way into the hands of Deputy Barney Fife and/or his boss, Sheriff Andy Griffith...or even Aunt Bea, for that matter...(Lord help us if Gomer and/or Goober picked it up, though)...

* Detective John McClane of the NYPD (from the earlier movies; NOT from either of the more recent ones!) would also be an amusing choice...

* Gilligan would be a truly ridiculous (yet possible) choice...

* Detective Columbo of the LAPD would be interesting...

* (Presuming this is BEFORE this show jumped the shark)...Imagine how frustrated Agent Mulder would be if Agent Scully picked up Mjolnir before he could... :-D

* Presuming we can cross over into rival territories -- Lois Lane, God(dess) of Thunder, any one?

ForrestGump!Thor, maybe.

CapThor is canonical, right? At least long enough to chuck the hammer to Thor...

I'm going to have to see if my local library has a copy of Origins of Marvel Comics; I could *swear* that in the circa '63 Journey Into Mystery origin story, it's there. (But not nowadays, true- it's gone the way of Iron Man's gold armor.)

Marvel Movie Universe does not always equal Marvel Comics Universe.

(So, in MMU, no, the hammer isn't inscribed. In MCU, it's sometimes readable to all, and sometimes readable only to the relevantly worthy person. More often the former. But definitely it was inscribed in the origin story, yes.)

Superman.

Cap.

Wonder Woman.

Beta Ray Bill!

But, being as three of those aren't in the Thor/Avengers movies... Cap. Or heck, throw 'em a curveball, have Sam do it.

The hammer at least used to be inscribed in the comics. (But yes, not so much in the movie version.)

No?

What about the folklore version of Casey Jones?

Or the little girl in Adventures in Babysitting.
