Nah, as a critical care nurse, it sounds bogus to me. Reading between the lines, it seems like they moved the mother to an ICU room (main trauma room means she was in the ER-- she can't be there forever; they're not equipped for long term stays). ICU rooms are small and visitation is limited (for good reason: nurses can't take adequate care of the really sick patients with family in the room all the time). That's just the way it is. Sorry, folks. Also, ventilation "hand pumps" are used temporarily for transportation. They are no less effective than a machine, and no doubt grandma was hooked back up the the regular ventilator when she got to her room. What hospital has enough staff to spare one person to sit there and "hand pump" for hours on end? That's retarded.
