The internet has made me happy this morning.

For all the nay-sayers: Quiet. I am allowed my hope. George Lucas has made a pile of good things, and two mostly crappy movies. He's had ample opportunity to find all those problems and fix 'em, and his past record shows he *can* fix 'em, so I'm still holding out hope that he did.

I'll go see it because I'm a mark, but it's probably going to blow dead bears (to steal from you).

And don't talk to me about Lucas "fixing" things again until Han shoots first, m'kay?

Han Shoots first in the DVD trilogy that just got released.

I liked the first two movies. They weren't stupendously awesome, but they were adequate entertainment. I admit to wanting to see the "Phantom Edit" version of Phantom Menace.

I have some high hopes for the third prequel.

Han shoots at the same time. It's still the wide angle shot. It's not "Yes, I bet you have" and Greedo's shot from under the table, it's that looks-nothing-like-Harrison-Ford wide angle shot with both of them shooting at the same time.

Phantom Menace was horrible. Attack of the Clones was slightly better. I have no hopes for the third one so I'm not disappointed when I can drive a truck through the plotholes, write a novel on the incontinuities, and flip through a history book stopping to point out exactly where he cribbed his scenes from.

That's the optimistic way to look at it. The pessimistic way is that he's also managed to suck-ify the original trilogy with his extra-special DVD edition (in the ones I bought, Han does not shoot first). Signs point to him having no idea anymore what's good and what isn't. It's not that I don't want the movie to be good, but I'm approaching it with extreme skepticism after the last two.

I just watched it in slo-mo. Greedo still shoots first. Harrison Ford's head looks like the guy in Beetlejuice got to him.

Good... you mean Lucas is not going to direct it then? heh.

The first movie was alright, but i really hted the whole medichlorien crap... the second movie was pretty good except for the love scenes... they were really lame...

You watched the scene in slo-mo? Just that scene? Just now?

I bow before the superior Geek. ;)

Yep. I like to make sure the things I'm saying have the most truth possible attached to them.

I really need to get my antiquated Pan & Scan VHS copies of the original tril burned to DVD before the tape degrades.

The DVDs look spectacular, but I still hate most of the changes.

Ooh, shiny. I think I'm gonna enjoy this.

(And I'll allow the naysayers their naysaying. Plenty of people disliked the LotR trilogy, and even though I LOVED it, it's no skin off my nose if they don't. More for me, or something.)

Find yourself a DVD burner, a bittorrent or possibly emule client, a fast internet connection, and look for the "TR47" edition (alternatively, pay him to mail you a set). Capped from the CAV definitive collection widescreen laser discs, pretty much the best version you can get, or at least it was half a year ago.

Mmm... shiny objects, bright lights, and special effects.

I agree with the shininess.

No verdicts until I've seen it.
