Colorado State Supreme court overturns death penalty verdict in a rape/murder case because the jury consulted the Bible, not the laws of the State of Colorado, to determine the appropriate punishment.

(And yes, this *is* correct, and it *is* the right decision for the court to have made. For comparison, imagine if the verses in question that decided their votes were "turn the other cheek", "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law", or "thou shalt partake of a hotdog on Fridays for such was the solace of the Goddess when confronted with the Original Snub.")

Especially the last two (well, not so much the final one). Or, to continue, what if one of them decided not to vote for the death penalty because of Buddhist or Taoist doctrine?
