Indianapolis Judge: I'm sorry, you're not allowed to teach your nine-year-old son about your religion, because it's not on the approved list for American children.

The prohibition is, in fact, from "exposing" the child to "non-mainstream religious beliefs and rituals."

It does not define "mainstream".

I loved the bit where it's implied that the school should decide what religion the kid should have, not the parents.

Yeah, especially since sending your kid to a parochial school run by a religion of which you are not a member is oh-so-rare in this country. (I nearly wound up in Catholic or Quaker school. I was nominally brought up Catholic, but my family's pretty nonreligious—the idea was that I get a good education.)
