In a Canton, Ohio high school, 65 of the 490 female students are pregnant.

This is not an unusual number for this city.

Guess how much money this school board has, and how hard they have to work to keep the schools open and moderately safe.

Guess whose sex-ed program was scrapped due to screeching ignorant fundie whining.

Guess what they replaced it with in order to get bare-bones funding to keep the school open?

Canton is an economically depressed akron.

It's an armpit like much of NE Ohio.

I am not proud of the state that I live in.

Well, clearly, those girls are knocked up because of the insidious liberal agenda that used to teach them about sex!

I am going to pick me up an extra-heavy hardcover copy of Gibbon's Delcine and Fall and start using it as a blunt instrument.

Meanwhile, more change goes into the bucket to be donated to Planned Parenthood at the end of the year.

"It is simply not appropriate for schools to teach children how to behave sexually."

Nor other children, nor mass media, but Jesus Christ, people, *someone* might need to get off their ass and perhaps explain some basic truths to children.

"Diana Fessler is a member of the Ohio State Board of Education who has been successfully fighting the CDC influence on public instruction."

Well, I guess she can be really really proud of what she's helped to accomplish.

And thank you for that link- I wouldn't have seen those articles otherwise. I'll be spreading it around myself if the OP doesn't mind.

I can't speak for him, but I doubt he does, since he definitely seems like a "get the information out" type of guy to me.

we live in a sex filled nation, people have to teach abstinence to 5th graders this day and age. we have to get back to the fiftys and teach the kiddies to fear sex again.

The fifties weren't exactly enlightened, pregnancy-free, or at all safe. Hiding the problem won't fix it.

Yeah, but if all the teenage pregnancies go to illegal abortionists, the baby probably won't survive and as a bonus they might not either, so they won't ever have sex again!
