Once eMpTyV got wind of it, it was only a matter of time.
(Most of the folks I know who have been going to Burning Man for years and have made major contributions to the event also do community building, art, charity work, and other Good Stuff™ in their own home towns. I think though that that's less about Burning Man and more about the kind of people they are.)
