Damn. That dog better never let go.

That cat has perfectly good back claws (probably) with which it could rip the dog's face off if it so desired. I suspect "not letting go" is not a sufficient survival strategy for the dog.

Considering how the dog has a hold of it, I don't think it could easily get those back claws into play.

Oh I dunno, they can double themselves over pretty well. Granted he might not get the *best* clawhold to be able to rake, but I bet he could do at least a little hurtin' of the nose.

Good point. Which is all that's really required.

Cat appears to be declawed, so not much equipment to bring to bear on the dog.

I'm against declawing cats. It's like removing the first knuckle from your fingers, plus it leaves them almost defenseless.

Oh, I'm quite aware. It's bad psychologically, it's crippling, and (yet another reason why it's bad) when the cat gets old they're almost guarenteed to get arthritis in their feet.

Just commenting that the above cat appears to be at least fore-paw-declawed, and if the owners were particular assholes, may be completely declawed, meaning it also can't climb at all.

There are apparently much nicer ways of doing it these days - lasers killing just the claw-growing cells, for example.

My cat had all four paws declawed before I got her. Frankly, I love it. I wouldn't declaw a cat, but, damn, declawed cats are so convenient.

I hope she's a completely inside cat, since she'd get slaughtered if she ever got into a fight.

Yes, she is, and has been for the last decade. Believe it or not, I'm not an idiot and I *am* capable of basic rational thought when it comes to my pet.

On the indoor scale, she beat up the lab and pointer when she lived with them, and she beats the crap out of [livejournal.com profile] torrain's two cats who have all their claws, too. None of them are really aggressively territorial (well, the lab is, but the cat is family and thus SUPPOSED to be in the territory).

I didn't mean to imply that you weren't; I just feel strongly about these kinds of things.
