Venezuela offers aid packages to people trapped in disaster-wracked third-world-country - the USA.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez offered to send food and fuel to the United States after the powerful Hurricane Katrina pummeled the US south.

The leftist leader, a frequent critic of the United States and a target himself of US disapproval, said Venezuela could send aid workers with drinking water, food and fuel to US communities hit by the hurricane.

"We place at the disposition of the people of the United States in the event of shortages -- we have drinking water, food, we can provide fuel," Chavez told reporters.

Last week, Chavez offered discount gasoline to poor Americans suffering from high oil prices and on Sunday offered free eye surgery for Americans without access to health care.

Meanwhile, many Americans are still batshit insane.

Ken Ham, Kent Hovind and Carl Baugh in the same article. I'm amazed the sheer gravity of their stupidity didn't pull all the words together in one black dot on the middle of the site. When Hugh Ross gets to argue the side of reason, you know you're in trouble...

I'm thinking I like Chavez, he may be a little authoritarian, but at least he legitimately won his elections. Besides, it's funny. Popcorn time.

I'm not really a fan of Chavez, but it's fun watching him insult the US with patronizing kindness.

I was half-expecting to see an Onion URL when I clicked on that story.

(The first one, you realize.)

As to the second one... "We're taking the dinosaurs back." Dear god.

What I think is weird about the dino article, is how it mentions winning converts to CREATIONISM...as though the way to God is through your scientific beliefs.

It's bollocks to attempt to win a convert to creationism. All you might get is a creationist...I don't think that brings them any closer to God.
