I do this about once every six months. Hook me up with music. New music. Different music. Music I can listen to for free, even if it requires payment to keep permanently. Pimp your friends and your favourite bands.

[livejournal.com profile] berlinfire already linked up Catherine Taft's Fun With Bagpipes(not the official title) this morning.

To that, I'll add Thou Shalt Not's "Inside of You, In Spite of You" - which is the kind of music you'd get if Kraftwerk made sweet, sweet, juicy man-style love to VNV Nation. With a hammer.

Oh, and PaLE A.D, [livejournal.com profile] palevox's band, and "Make You Love Me", which is a HAPPY alterna-techno-goth-rock tender love song. (Psst! Buy Kevin's stuff!)

Your turn. Link me!

More bagpipe fun: Wolgemut. Seriously quality stuff. I like their last CD Momento, too, although that features some music with quieter instruments also. Like the hurdy gurdy.

I missed the "music I can listen to for free" part. I think they have audio samples, but I have no MP3 links, sorry.

Interestingly the gothpanda and I are friends with the drummer from thou shalt not (she used ot date the lead singer and I hear nothing but bad things about him as an individual). If you like I'll try to introdice you next time you're in cow-town.

For my end, here's the music of Kat Savery

She's really excellent and though the sound quality is not great, Jester is still one of my favorite songs ever.

Abigail Washburn NPR feature. I'm planning to pick up something of hers next time I go CD shopping. She plays the banjo and sings American roots music—often in Chinese.

It works much better than you'd expect. The long sounds in Chinese diction match the rhythms of American music quite well.
