The Long Walk still haunts me to this day, and The Running Man was striking, too. But your point is well made: *snicker*.

I adore The Running Man, and even made a game based on it in high school. I still want to see it made into a movie.

I'm with you on The Long Walk, as well.

The Schwarzennegger version of The Running Man was great. Hush, you.

I mean, come on, Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa! Fucking Richard Dawson as Killian! Jesse "The Original Governator" Ventura! The man is a sexual tyrannosaurus!

I need to have another Jesse Ventura Movie Night.

Be that as it may, they still haven't made a movie out of the book, any more than they've made a movie out of Starshipp Troopers.

And they're never going to. Not only does the narrative not lend itself well to a visual medium, but the ending would never be accepted by the general public or any specific media company.

Besides, a "turn off your TV, you FUCKS" movie? These days?

And Starship Troopers was a really interesting movie when you looked at it solely from the the "menus" that appeared around the screen. When you take the entire film as mass-produced pro-war government propaganda from that future society, it's really kinda cool. Sadly, watching it that way still doesn't make Denise Richards die.

I'm not saying I don't like Starship Troopers- it's great fun with popcorn. I'm just saying it's not really Starship Troopers.

Did you like Series 7? I found it disturbing and came away feeling somewhat violated.

I thought it was amazing. Saw it in the theatre, and I bought it on video.

[livejournal.com profile] torrain won't watch it and we live together, so I haven't actually seen it since the theatre.

And yes, it's very uncomfortable to watch. That's part of the awesome.
