A general kind of note: While "I have two days left on my contract" and "I have two paid sick days left" may SEEM like an opportune combination of factors, I will in fact kill you all if you leave me holding the bag for 10 people again. I have all my sick days left, I end on the same day as you do, and I hate you all.

Whereas those of us who are responsible adults and LIKE having those sick days for when we actually need them believe in beating people like you to death with hammers.

If you're not going to be working at some place anymore, then those sick days disappear. If I have them, and am recently not going to be able to benefit from them, then I need them.

You need a sick day when you are unable to do your job.

If you are able to do your job and are not doing it because you are falsely claiming to be sick, you do not qualify for a sick day and you do not need a sick day.

If you are taking sick days just to use them up, then you are defrauding your employer, and, in this case, leaving me to do your job as well as mine. And I will hit you with a hammer. THEN you will need a sick day.

There is one and only one reason why almost anybody who I'm working for has any right to expect anything remotely approaching loyalty from me: they pay me. If most corporation could get away with not paying me for my work, they wouldn't pay me. If I have any paid days where I don't have to work, and I don't use them (given that they don't roll-over or something like that), then I'd feel like I was being used. I don't like feeling like I'm being used and if I can avoid doing so, especially avoid feeling like I'm being used by some corporation that couldn't care less about me, I'm going to do so.

So, in order to avoid feeling ripped off, you need to rip somebody else off, fraudulently abusing a *privilege*.

You're different. You're not a faceless corporation. Regardless of their legal status, corporations are not people and unless the agents of that corporation act in a manner I find acceptable, or are punished sufficiently for acting wrongly, then to Hell with that corporation.
Although, honestly, what you've said is pretty humorous considering that its coming from a guy who's getting paid to do something, which I'm pretty sure isn't surf the internet and post things for the amusement of his friends and acquaintances.

Ah, right, so it's perfectly okay to defraud people as long as you don't know them.

what you've said is pretty humorous considering that its coming from a guy who's getting paid to do something, which I'm pretty sure isn't surf the internet and post things for the amusement of his friends and acquaintances.

You may have noticed the "Damn, I'm bored" tag on things today. It's a slow day.

My job is done. Taken care of. Complete. I do it better than anyone else, faster than anyone else - and until something else breaks, I'm being paid to surf the web, post stuff online, and be here so that when something breaks, I can fix it, better and faster than anyone else. This is a privilege that I have earned, and I resent covering for other people who do not do their jobs.
